Bloodhound SSC Project images
The BLOODHOUND Project is the World Land Speed Record attempt designed to motivate young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM subjects).
1. Education: 2,410 schools sign up to the BLOODHOUND Education programmed; independent research confirms BLOODHOUND SSC is having a mini "Apollo" effect
2. Car design finalized: BLOODHOUND SSC has gone through ten design evolutions. The design is now set with the EJ200 jet engine from a Euro fighter Typhoon positioned above the prototype hybrid rocket - the largest ever designed in the UK
3. Launch of new BLOODHOUND HQ: New BLOODHOUND Headquarters and build site opens in Bristol Docklands
4. Record attempt: Runs to commence in 2011 on the Hakskeen Pan, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
5. Sponsors: Major sponsors supporting the Project include STP, Lockheed Martin and IT partner Intel
6. Supporters' club: raised over £137,000 in its first year
1. The BLOODHOUND Education Programmer
The Project has over 2,410 primary and secondary schools, 176 further education colleges and 33 universities signed up and using the BLOODHOUND Education resources in their lessons. We have reached our target of 10% of the 25,000 schools in the England and Wales in the first year alone - the Project has even had its first nursery school join this week.
An independent study by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) concluded that the BLOODHOUND Education Programmer provides a genuine hook to get children interested in science and engineering.
Siobain Barns from Harwood Meadows Primary School in Bolton, who uses the resources in her classroom, said: "Our pupils are blown away to be involved in such an exciting project and enthusiasm is equally high from girls as well as boys" she continued: "They're enjoying maths without realizing they're learning."

It’s two decades since Ferrari first introduced a paddle-shift semi-automatic gearbox on its F1 car – the 640 raced by Nigel Mansell in 1989.ferrari 458 italia speedmetor

Now Ferrari has phased out manual gearboxes entirely in the 458 Italia – its replacement for the F430. Has the onward march of technology needlessly sacrificed the joy of swapping cogs with your own hands and feet?
In a word, no.
The automated manual geabox in the Ferrari 458 Italia gives you the option of fully automatic gear changes or doing the work yourself by pulling the paddles behind the steering wheels.
Ultra-purists of a Jeremy Clarkson persuasion will lament losing the opportunity to shift the gears and work the clutch themselves. But the demand for manual gearboxes simply isn’t there. Ferrari say just 1% of F430s were ordered with manual transmission.
In sports cars at least, it seems the age of the manual gearbox is coming to a close and those who lament its passing are fewer and farther between.

ferrari 458 italia top cars in world
he 458 Italia is the latest incarnation of the mid-rear engined berlinetta and will be unveiled at the next Frankfurt Motor Show
Maranello, July 28th 2009 – While it’s true that every Ferrari is innovative by definition, it’s equally true that in the course of the Prancing Horse’s history, certain cars have marked a genuine departure from the current range. This is very much the case with the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is a massive leap forward from the company’s previous mid-rear engined sports cars.
The new model is a synthesis of style, creative flair, passion and cutting-edge technology, characteristics for which Italy as a nation is well-known. For this reason Ferrari chose to add the name of its homeland to the traditional figure representing the displacement and number of cylinders.
The Ferrari 458 Italia is a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few.
A two-seater berlinetta, the Ferrari 458 Italia, as is now traditional for all Ferrari’s road-going cars, benefits hugely from the company’s Formula 1 experience. This is particularly evident in the speed and precision with which the car responds to driver inputs and in the attention focused on reducing internal friction in the engine for lower fuel consumption than the F430, despite the fact that both overall displacement and power have increased. However, Ferrari’s track experience makes its presence felt in the 458 Italia not only in terms of pure technological transfer but also on a more emotional level, because of the strong emphasis on creating an almost symbiotic relationship between driver and car. The 458 Italia features an innovative driving environment with a new kind of steering wheel and dashboard that is the direct result of racing practice. Once again input from Michael Schumacher – who was involved from the very start of the 458 Italia project – played an invaluable par

Beauty Audi GT3 Sports Car with 500hp engine
Audi presented new sport version of the R8, called GT3. He has a Audi Quattro system in favor of GT regulation rear-wheel drive transmission. 500 horsepower of the R8 is represented by six new urban increase, consistent, sports gearbox. Adapted front end and a GT-mega big rear wing grandstanding exercise regime to keep glued to the development.
Audi claims that the suspension uses almost exclusively components from the production line. As incredible as sound, I think detail criterion R8 is a super car, already based on technology competition.
