Davis Cup Update: Spain Lead Serbia 2-1, Croatia Through to the Quarters 2009

Well Rafa was right when he predicted it wouldn't be a "walk in the park"; it was more like a sprint that one runs with plenty of breath to spare. The world number 1 crushed Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic 6-1, 6-0, 6-2, to give Spain a 2-0 lead over Serbia, before doubles pair Nenad Zimonjic and Viktor Troicki salvaged a point for Serbia by defeating Tommy Robredo and Feliciano Lopez in straight sets. Current score: 2-1 for Spain. Sunday's lineup: Nadal vs Djokovic, Ferrer vs Tipsarevic (unless the team captains decide to make any necessary changes).

Russia's ladiesmen, Marat Safin and Dmitry Tursunov, enjoy a short chat during their doubles match against Romania today. This photo was probably taken when they were 2 sets up.

This however is Safin fuming sometime in the 5th set, which he and Tursunov eventually lost to Copil/Tecau. Current score: 2-1 for Russia.

Cuteness alert: Romania's doubles pair, Horia Tecau (left) and Marius Copil (right), pulled off an incredible comeback against Safin and Tipsarevic. They're not bad looking either.

Mario Ancic and Marin Cilic sealed the tie for Croatia after winning a third point for their team with a straight sets double win over Chile. Final score: 3-0 for Croatia.

Radek Stepanek and Tomas Berdych share a post-doubles victory embrace after beating Frenchmen, Richard Gasquet and Michael Llodra, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2. Current score: 2-1 for the Czechs.
